culture/shift is:

  •  A collective of experienced and passionate arts advocates and educators who support the belief that collaborative, creative, connections across schools and communities, contributes to a strong, resilient and healthy society.

  • A method of working within many sectors – schools, social service agencies, arts organizations, health care facilities… to identify and gather key advocates who, like us, see arts access and participation as a tool for community growth and social justice.

  • A facilitation model that encourages shared resources and learning across sectors and promotes the value of diverse voices and artistic practices in building foundations of support for arts in schools and communities.

What we do:

Our work is designed to support individual organizations/groups or a number of key stakeholder organizations/groups in developing practical steps to identify valuable connections, activities, and methodologies leading to the change that they want to see.

Together, we… :

  • Meet with potential partners with a common goal for arts access who are looking for a collaborative framework of practice that will inform their next steps.

  • Facilitate participatory workshops to explore key issues and challenges amongst a group of stakeholders.

  • Gather, formally or informally, key representatives from various sectors to find common ground in supporting children and youth in their communities.

  • Provide mentorship – one-on-one or in groups – to artists or arts organizations seeking to strengthen their community and/or school programming.

  • Support arts advocacy through schools, school boards, parent groups along with educators and school administrators.

  • Present case studies, learning, and methodologies from our own community and schools engaged practices at workshops, conferences, forums, and professional development events.
